500 words text due on wednesday the 23rd.

Since I started the news media practicum class this semester, I have learned many different things that will be useful for my future career. Because I had to help and work for about eighteen hours total for many different people’s show, I got to learn many things. This past month and a half that I started this class, I helped with the wellness TV, the southern news network and the southern sports network. My favorite one was the southern news network because every Monday, we would meet in the studio and discuss about the next show, about what articles we would write this week and then, everyone would chose a station to work at and we would record the show. We didn’t record a show every week because one time, the articles weren’t good enough and the other time, there weren’t enough articles. Most of what I did for that show is I wrote articles and helped with the teleprompt. After spring break, I would like to help with the camera. When I helped with the southern sports network and the Wellness Tv, I got to learn how to use the camera, how to zoom and how to record a video. I recorded a few videos for wellness Tv, one about the fitness tips, one about the spring break and one about tips for your car. Also, I videotaped parts and highlights of the men and women’s basketball matches for the southern sports network. John, Anna, Colleen and Consuelo really showed me a lot and I am glad I worked for them. John and Consuelo both showed me a little bit how to edit the videos and make them look better. They also showed me how to add headers to the image and a few other things. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to practice very much but I definitely think that when I come back from spring break, Consuelo will explain it to me more in details and have me try to do it on my own.
By spending all those extra hours out of class, I really felt like I was working really hard and actually trying to learn.  I had a lot of fun with everyone who I was working with and for. Unfortunately, it was pretty hard for me to get hours because most of the meetings for the shows were at 4pm and this was exactly during my practice time. Somehow, I got almost eighteen hours, probably because I really did my best to contact everyone in order to get the most hours I possibly could get. I realized that this job industry requires a lot of time and sacrifices.
Since I didn’t get to present my article yet, I didn’t do much in class this past month. Although, I got to listen to many good articles presented by other classmates and I got to tell my point of view about them. All the subjects were very interesting to hear and discuss about.
Finally, this was what I learned so far in the news media practicum class. I am sure I will learn even more after spring break since I am now getting used to this whole experience a little more.
