Thursday April 21st, 2011 Final

This second half semester in news practicum, I had to present two articles in class. Unfortunately, because of tennis, I missed class and was only able to do one. The one that I did went pretty well, it made the class interact a lot because the subject that I chose was very known by the people I was presenting my article to.

Other than the two articles, I had to work 18 hours. Mostly, what I did was write stories for the southern news network show, helped recording the show, and acted in front of a camera.  I wrote a total of 7 stories for Anna. It was fun because I had to find information about what was going on campus so it was informing myself in the same time. Also, I had to try to be interesting so I think it helped my writing skills.
When it came to recording the show, I helped a lot with the teleprompt and a little bit with the cameras. I definitely think I got better with the cameras because I really had to focus and couldn’t make any mistakes since we were recording. Each time I helped for the show, I was fascinated by how good John and Colleen were at anchoring. We barely had to record it again because they pretty much never made any mistakes. I liked doing the teleprompt, it was pretty easy but I had to follow what they were saying to make sure I wasn’t going too fast or too slow.  I really enjoyed being part of the southern news network group. It was by far my favorite one.

The last thing I did this half semester was with Dalton Davis.  I got an email one day saying that he needed help for a project for his “acting for the camera” class. I was free so I decided to go help him out.  The first thing we did was we danced on a music beat, in front of the camera. After a little while, the music would stop and Dalton would say the quote he needed to say. Then, we would start dancing again. After we did that, we edited the video. I tried to edit a part of it but it was a little bit hard. I learned a little bit how to edit which was good. After that, we went to Dalton’s house and dressed up as Zombies. I think I was playing a pretty big role for the video because I was almost in front of the camera the whole time. I had to show my acting skills because I had to look almost dead and scary and then make a crazy noise. It took a little while to make the whole video but it was definitely fun to shoot and I definitely think that Dalton and Nick’s ideas were very original.

Finally, the second half of the semester went pretty well for my part. I definitely learned a few new things and was happy to be part of everything that I have done.

This monday, Dalton needed help for his acting for the camera project. I helped him from 2h30 to 7h pm. We recorded a video where we had to dance in front the camera. After, we went to his house and did a little bit of acting there. We were all dressed up as zoombies and we had to play a role basically. It was pretty fun. Im glad I helped him.
